Victorian Landcare Awards 2021

Background

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) creates thriving environments and communities. They focus on the importance of a sustainable and livable Victoria that helps to protect the future of the environment. One of the bodies a part of DELWP is Landcare and each year they hold an award ceremony at Government House to recognise people and groups from around Victoria for their outstanding contributions to preserving Victoria’s landscapes.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19  restrictions in Victoria, all Landcare volunteers and those being recognised were unable to attend Government House in 2021, which is why the DELWP team chose to hold their Awards ceremony virtually.

The Brief

DEWLP engaged We Are Phoenix to produce the Victorian Landcare Awards virtually. With a total of 16 awards, all with different sponsor announcements, DELWP required all of these speeches to be pre-recorded before the virtual event. As producers for the event, the Phoenix team met with over 30 people to ensure their recordings we successfully completed and had time to be edited to a high standard.

DEWLP asked Phoenix to help source an MC, create the EDM and ticket platform, manage the virtual platform as well as on the day technical delivery to ensure that all attendees experienced the award ceremony with no issues.

All in all they wanted the award ceremony to be engaging and also have the opportunity to highlight and commemorate some very hard working people within their community.

The Solution

Working alongside DELWP, Phoenix executed a virtual event that showcased different areas of environment protection across Victoria and celebrated members of the community.

Phoenix were responsible for the following:

• Developing technical run sheets, pre-recording content, speaker briefs, MC notes and briefs, holding slides, EDM’s and registration management.
• Technical management in the lead up to the event as well as on the day execution, full AV set up in studio for the MC, virtual event broadcast and stage managers managing the chat function throughout the event.
• Creating the event platform via Zoom
• Pre-event communication, scheduling and pre-recording and editing the speeches of over 30 Winners and Sponsors
• Coordinating the recording of the Governor’s Speech.

The Results

• 290 Registrations
• 16 awards
• 30 pre-recorded videos
